Weddings

Congratulations on getting married!

You have come to the right place if you are looking for a high quality wedding dj in maine.

To The Future Bride & Groom:

We at MaineDJ.com, and many other DJ's alike, steer toward creating a fun and festive event. While I always look forward to creating a fun-filled, great time for the client and their guests, I also keep in mind not to go "overboard". This in my opinion, would be using alot of "inflatable" guitars and corny items to divert the attention from you at your reception. I believe that it is YOUR day, and the attention should be for you. Weddings need to be looked at with great care, and respect, and also to never steal the "spotlight" from the bride and groom. Many clients have envisioned their special day for years, and I would not want to give them anything less.

We hear of too many wedding DJs that have large egos try to steal the spotlight for their own gain. I also have clients ask how much I will talk on the microphone, and if I try to "take over". My answer is NO.

I am there to make the important announcements and to play the music that you and your guests will enjoy. I have heard of a few DJ's that think that everyone just wants to hear them talk at an event. I am not running for public office, so you won't see me getting carried away with using the mic, but will talk when the times are right.

In my opinion, this is YOUR wedding and you deserve the focus on you, and not me.

Not every wedding is the same...

We do offer a 'fun, yet professional' approach when it comes to weddings. We like to emphasize a professional touch of class rather than turn it in to a circus. This goes from coordinating each and every event that you choose to take place at your wedding to choosing the right song for the right time later on in the event. If your dream wedding is "classy and conservative", then that is what will be provided. It is (remember) YOUR wedding and I will do my absolute best that all of the arrangements that we have discussed, will take place.

If you would like a little bit more of a "party atmosphere", we'll be glad to work with you to create the mood you desire for your reception. We currently offer a complete lightshow show as a part of the package. (most weddings however, choose something minimal or none at all).

At the same time, we like to create a "family friendly" atmosphere so that guests of all ages can have fun and not worry about hearing offensive, inappropriate' music. All songs are the “Radio Friendly” versions, so we won't offend your grandparents.

When we meet, we find out what your visions of wedding will be. If you are looking for something more "reserved" or for more of an "all-out party" we can work with you to make it happen. I can be a "low-key" DJ only making the few necessary announcements, or a "high intensity" interactive DJ that will keep the crowd energized. In most cases, people go for something in between.

Here are some frequently asked questions:

What kind of music will you play?

I will play what you ever you choose me to play for your event. When choosing music selections for dancing; I recommend going with a good variety to cover the wide range in ages of your guests. I have music that ranges all the way back to the 1940's and have all the hits of today as well. Current clients can log into my Website with their password (that they select), and request the music that they would like played during their event. This will give me plenty of time to make sure I have ALL of the songs that you want. I will do my best to play requests from your guests as well, if you wish.

Your disc jockey should be able to entertain everyone at your event by gearing music to you and your guests. Their music library should contain everything from big band, oldies and disco to the latest dance, country and rock, and should be on digital compact disc. The disc jockey should be able to provide a list of the music that they will bring to your event.

What music format do you use?

I currently still use cd's, and have Professional DJ cd players that can also play music in mp3 format. At some point in the future, I plan on going "digital" to a computer based system with a specialized Disc Jockey friendly software. Computer DJ's have been around for a few years now, and I have chose to wait until computer based DJ systems became more stable for what I feel comfortable with.

What if you do not have the song we want?

If I do not have it, I will gladly pick it up if and if I am given enough time to order it. Even though my music library consists of over 40,000 songs, there may be a song that you want that I don't have, and I do not mind adding to it.

Will you meet with us prior to our event?

Absolutely! I recommend meeting at least 4 weeks in advance to ensure that I can be fully prepared, and so that you can review any last minute ideas that we come up with.

What will you wear to the event?
When we meet, I will ask if you prefer Formal, Casual or Themed attire. When it is formal attire, I will wear my black dress suit, and tie. I do not wear a tux, so that I will not be looking the same as the wedding party. This is standard Wedding attire, and is also the norm for Prom’s too. When it is casual, I will wear Khaki’s, dress shirt, and dress shoes. Themed attire is for special events, and other themed events. I must know at least 6 weeks in advance, in case I need to order anything.

Do you have back-up equipment in case something goes wrong?

Yes, we have many back-up pieces of equipment, and music. If something goes wrong, it can be interchanged with minimal time.

How many weddings have you performed at?

I have been the DJ for over 350 wedding receptions.

How many breaks will you take?

None! I am a DJ, not a band. Why should I need to take a break after I start to play?

Will you be bringing anyone with you to help?

Ordinarily, I work alone, but on some occasions, my wife may come along, and assist in requests and being the lighting technician if you choose to use some of my lights for dancing.

Do you have a contract? Absolutely!

I will not DJ an event without a contract, and you should never hire anyone for your wedding without one. You will have all of the details and rates in front of you, so there will never be any questions on when or how much I will charge you. You will pay the amount that is stated on the contract that you sign.
